    • Jenni, her little brother and her parents visited the same park every year for a week So did her very best friend Autumn, her little brother and parents The day of their arrival was the same as it always was, and when the girls saw each other they were full of excitement for the week ahead But the plan to go horse riding the following day was thwarted by a strange and frightening occurrence for Jenni When she finally found Autumn, everything had changed And to Jenni s horror it appeared she had [...]

    • I think that A Year Without Autumn is a good book and it s written by Liz Kessler It is fantasy and all but I won t recommend it to adults because it s for children Adults will probably think it s boring and childish It s about a 12 year old girl called Jenni She and Autumn are best friends and they are inseparable One day, they decided to go on a trip together They were supposed to go horse riding, but everything seemed to change when she used an old elevator to Autumn s condo She was shocked w [...]

    • Jenni and Autumn are twelve years old and best friends Jenni, the narrator of the story, is somewhat in awe of Autumn Autumn is the outgoing of the two girls and comes from a slightly affluent and bohemian family While the two families are on holiday together Jenni finds herself transported to a year into the future She discovers that in the year that has passed a terrible tragedy has occurred with consequences for both families and the girls friendship This was a truly bizarre book The story [...]

    • I liked the premise of this book, but I was also quite weary about it when I first heard about it I thought the idea behind it was interesting, but I m always a little apprehensive of time travel novels I can find them very confusing and I think that this book is aimed towards middle grade children rather than young adults However, I found it surprisingly enjoyable I admit that, at the start, I didn t think that I was going to enjoy this book as much as I did Our protagonist, Jenni, is 12 years [...]

    • A Year Without Autumn by Liz Kessler follows Autumn and Jenny who are headed to the timeshare that their families have vacationed at for years While on the way to Autumn s house Jenni takes an elevator and finds another woman in Jenni s apartment She soon learns that the elevator has taken her one year into the future, a future where Jenni and Autumn s life has fallen apart because of a horrible accident Jenni must deal with everything and figure out how she keeps ending up in the future. This is [...]

    • Although it took me a few chapters to really be pulled into this novel, I found it to be quite a fun, sweet read overall It s summer and 12 year old Jenni is going on the annual family vacation with her family her best friend Autumn s family has a condo nearby as well, so the two girls get to spend the whole week together One day, heading to Autumn s place, Jenni uses this old elevator that she thought was broken and it takes her forward in the future, where she sees how awful things have become [...]

    • Jenni is looking forward to spending the end of her summer vacation with her family at their timeshare apartment While it s great to get away, she also gets to spend the last weeks of summer with her best friend Autumn and her family Autumn is the best friend Jenni could wish for she s exciting while Jenni is cautious After Jenni takes a ride in the rickety old elevator in their building, she knocks on Autumn s apartment door only to find someone else living there Although it might seem impossib [...]

    • This was a quick and easy read The time travel aspect of it was interesting, but Jenni and Autumn both felt a little undercooked While I appreciate that Middle Grade fiction has a considerable amount of constraints in terms of character development and also plot, the ending was a little too pat for me, and I think it might have been interesting to take it in a different direction all things considered, however, the ending I would have liked would be too bleak for MG fiction, most likely I don t [...]

    • This book was SO good Once I started it I could not stop I felt really close to the characters I would recommend this book to people who want a page turner I liked how you could go into the future with the character and see what happens This was a really good book.

    • I won a copy of this on Girls 3 Books blog ages ago but put it to one side as I had a mountain of other books to read Every year at the library we do a Book of the Year event where we have to read 6 books then vote for the best, this year this book is on the list They are all Children s Middle Grade books I thought I had better start reading the nominated books and as I had my own copy of this I thought it would be a good place to start.Jenni and her family always go to the same place on holiday [...]

    • A very charming story from the author of the Emily Windsnap series This book is a departure from Emily Windsnap and her fantastical world of mermaids but it bases itself on the same thing A young girl, put in unusual and magical circumstances and trying to make sense of things on her own Jenni is in many ways a normal 11 year old A pair of doting parents, an annoying little brother, a baby sister on the way and a best friend Said bff, Autumn, is the polar opposite of Jenni Autumn is vivacious, o [...]

    • I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, although i dont really get how the lift was the time machine or how mrsith could still be in Autumn s appartment a year in the future because Mickey was not in a coma and her parents didn t lose their jobs, and they didn t sell their timeshare etc , i really couldn t put it down I spent the whole of today, in school, distracted because i was thinking about possible plot lines for the book ending Amazing book, well done Liz Kessler.

    • It s the last Saturday of August, the day Jenni and her family settle into their condo for the last week of summer It s the same thing every year Jenni s family has always been organized and punctual Neither quality applies to Jenni s best friend s family No, Autumn s family is a group of artists that are so full of life that Jenni feels lucky enough just to be in their presence On the first night, Autumn tells Jenni that they re going horseback riding the next day All through the next morning, [...]

    • Recommended for grades 6 Book talk This book, than anything, made me think It made me think about the fact that small moments and chance coincidences can change our lives forever Jenni and Autumn are best friends who appear to live a pretty great life They have loving families who spend a week each year in a vacation home One day, to get to Autumn s family s apartment rental, Jenni takes an old elevator in the building, not the one that she usually takes As this elevator takes her up to the nex [...]

    • Every summer Jenni and her family vacation with her best friend, Autumn, and their family Everything seems normal until Jenni takes a ride in an old elevator The world is now one year ahead and Jenni has no recollection of the past year Jenni then learns that something terrible happens to Autumn s family, something that tests the strength of their friendship She realizes how people can change after something bad happens I liked Jenni s character She was the sidekick and had trouble doing things [...]

    • It was a little slow to get into I admit I skipped a few pages in the beginning to get to the part where she had her time jump Only because the beginning seriously made me want to drop the book But after the time jump, things got serious Like an unexpected turn of seriousness that I did not see coming It was interesting to see how Jenni and Autumn worked on their friendship over the years even with the time travel messing up their mojo The side couple who also time traveled is very cute too I gi [...]

    • Jenni and her best friend Autumn both spend a week each summer with their families at a timeshare condo Jenni and Autumn have been best friends forever Autumn is outgoing and fun, and the much quiet Jenni has always been a bit in her shadow The second day of their visit, Jenni takes the old creaky elevator, that hasn t been working up until now, up to Autumn s second floor condo But when she knocks on Autumn s door, a stranger answers it The old elevator has somehow sent Jenny forward a whole y [...]

    • I really enjoyed the Emily Windsnap series so I was expecting to like this new novel by Liz Kessler, but was very disappointed The story was so frustrating and I forced myself to read it until the end to see if the resolution was worth all the irritation the book caused me The ending was alright, but this book just put me in a bad mood from all the anxiety and frustration of the two main characters I also have no idea who I would want to recommend this to, and especially not any children This id [...]

    • I think this is a really fun book for young adults The amazing author of this book, Liz Kessler, has put together such an suspenseful book It is a bit challenging with the time changing ,and years switching here, and there As challenging as it is, this book carries on a message, reminding you that one good friend is better than a bunch of bad friends, and to focus on the present because you don t want to miss a minute of it

    • I read this book Christmas Break of 2011 I love Liz Kessler s books and when I heard this was coming out, I had to get it I m glad I did The concept of this book is so deep and incrediblebut fun All the characters were amazing and added greatly to the story s plot The moral of the story has been used before, but the book puts a whole new meaning on it be careful what you wish for.

    • I m SO shocked This book is awful Stopped at page 52 What I couldn t tolerate was the main character, Jenni She is TSTL, such a FOLLOWER she thinks everything autumn does is perfect She follows autumn EVERYWHERE and she s so childish and silly If I can give this 0 stars, I would.

    • A Year without Autumn is a spectacular science fiction novel It is well written, and it has a great plot The emotion portrayed in this book is first class, and makes me cry every time I read it Liz Kessler s A Year without Autumn is one of my favorite novels.
